The Bx Elementary School involved the addition of 15 classrooms to serve the growing community and renovations to the existing school to accommodate additional students. Changes to the existing facility included adding large windows into classrooms and corridors, and adding gender neutral washrooms. Exterior cladding was selected to be durable, aesthetically pleasing, and cost effective with a cool and neutral palette. As the hub and community centre used by the community and sporting groups it was important to maintain as many of the existing playing fields as possible. The L-shaped design added an additional bonus courtyard increasing outdoor hard surface activities throughout the year. Cladding was selected to be durable, aesthetically pleasing, and cost effective. Panelized cladding consisting of three colours, each with three surface textures for a total of nine different variants.
This project brings this school up to date and serves the future growth of the communtiy.
We're really excited to welcome back our BX Elementary students into a school that has had fabulous additional classrooms, as well as minor renovation. After a number of years housing some students in portables, this will allow students to come together as a BX family."
