Situated on the eastern slopes of the Okanagan Valley overlooking Lake Okanagan and Kelowna, Tantalus is a boutique winery committed to high quality wines. Originally known as Pioneer Vineyards, the site first planted grapes in 1927, and is one of the oldest continuously producing vineyards n British Columbia. Tantalus’ winemaking philosophy is centered around the concept of terroir, or “sense of place”. All wines are made from organically grown fruit, allowing the wine to convey the quality and character of this historic vineyard. This ethos extends to the built environment on the site. The roof line follows the slope of the valley with broad views overlooking the lake from the tasting area. Visitors can also view the Barrel Hall while enjoying the latest offerings around the fireplace. The building is a contemporary white metal structure that conveys a sense of modernity with its clean lines and use of glass, and the facility is a candidate for a LEED® Silver rating
