The project name “Sole” is a reference to the footprint of the building, which is compact, efficient, and distinctly urban. The development is a compact, mixed-use, attractive, and environmentally designed building which supports the developer’s business plan and makes the project financially viable and attainable for prospective owners. Located at the edge of downtown Kelowna, this structure contains 4 wood frame storeys resting upon a 2-storey concrete podium building. These storeys contain commercial spaces and 54 compact residential units. . The commercial units front the street, animating the building at the pedestrian level. The concrete podium has relief patterning in the formwork and is topped by a landscaped deck with cascading greenery. A 6th floor amenity area includes an enclosed exercise/social space as well as an outdoor landscaped oasis with a southward view. MQN’s Interiors team of Registered Interior Designers worked closely with the developers of 2 main commercial tenants to help them realize their potential within the floor-plate. Both Peacock Sheridan Group and Impact Ratio required full scope services from space planning, FF&E existing inventory, new FF&E selections, millwork development and 3D renderings and models of the spaces which later developed into a full set of working drawings and specifications.
