Painted Turtle Treatment Center

Armstrong, BC

Completed 2017

The 10-bed pre and post treatment recovery house is nestled in the trees and surrounded by nature next to the Round Lake Treatment Centre, which has been helping First Nations people with drug and alcohol addiction since it opened in 1979. The lower floor of the new facility will include a triage room large enough to hold 5 beds, 2 nurses stations, medical and equipment storage, an a front entrance area with 3 offices and a smudge room. This part of the facility will have “lock down” capacity. The other section of the lower floor houses 2 classroom spaces which are accessible to the rest of the buildings on the property. The main/upper floor will house 15 bedrooms with shared washroom facilities, a storage/janitor room, lounge area and dining room, and kitchen. The building will be nestled into the steep slope on the northwest side of the Round Lake property near the entrance road and the existing parking area with walking path access to the rest of the property’s buildings. The building takes advantage of the sloped lot with a green roof that perfectly nestles into the local environment without disruption to the spectacular views.
