The project name ‘Sole’ is a reference to the footprint of the building which is compact, efficient, and distinctly urban. The development highlights a compact, mixed use, attractive, and environmentally designed building which supports the developer’s business plan and makes the project financially viable and attainable for prospective owners.
Located at the edge of downtown Kelowna, this structure contains four wood frame storeys resting upon a two storey concrete podium building. These storeys contain commercial spaces and 54 compact residential units with balconies, while the top four storeys hold residential units. The commercial units front onto the street side, animating the building at the pedestrian level. The concrete podium has relief patterning in the formwork and is topped by a landscaped deck, providing the beauty of greenery, which will cascade downwards. A sixth floor amenity area includes an enclosed exercise/social space as well as an outdoor landscaped oasis with a view toward the south.
